I will try to put all the questions and answers from this quiz and the previous ones on this blog or through some link but give me some time to do that. You can then always go back and learn more:)
So anything funny yesterday?
Yes, when you see the answers on some questions it brings a smile.
And the "Captains-Round" was really interesting too with the winner of the bottle of vodka still drunk probably?
And we had of course some discussions which always brings more adrenaline in everyones body and brain:)
What we discussed? Well, if Mt. Elbrus is the highest mountain in Europe or is that Asia and should the Mt. Blanc be considered the highest. Having read several info sites on the Internet and some encyclopedeas I consider now this question as to be not asked. The scientist dealing with this issue consider that part sometimes as Asia, some as Europe. So, all teams will have one point more or less, meaning it makes no difference at the end.
The small, white dog we had in the quiz was of course not a New Foundland.
That is a much bigger dog and weighs between 50-70 kg.
There was also a short discussion about the title "Gulf of Mannar" between Sri Lanka and India. Also here we can discuss the name of "Gulf" or not but in most encyclopedeas it is named as "Gulf" End of discussion here:)
A smile on my face when I see the answers? Oh yes, for instance these ones:
Who was the last British PM not to be married gave for instance Ted Heath instead of Margaret Thatcher what was the right answer.
How is the sport Tauromachy better known as? The right answer is Bull-fighting. One team came with the funny answer "ping-pong" Doesn't that bring a smile when you know the real answer?
Anyway, it was a great event. A full house with those ten teams and 3 youngsters trying to give the answer without really competing and another 6 at the bar watching this.
This also means that if you want to compete the next time, the last Tuesday in June (26!!!), you need to make reservations sooner rather then later because we cannot have more then eleven-twelve (11-12) teams competing! And don't forget that teams cannot have more then 4 members. I will think to make the quiz even more attractive, but you will (hopefully) see that on the 26th.
A pity was that my always assistant and help in so many things, our PR-manager Roza was not able to be here due to a holiday. Without her it was hard work to get all the sounds and music right but fortunately Mladen, our busy bartender and Daniela helped me out. Thanks!
Before summing up the end score I would also like to thank Mel Hoffman. He, as an expat here now 4 years, was the first one to compete in our quiz, coming back all the time. And this was his last one since he will leave us and go back to England soon. Thanks Mel and all the best for you!
The end result:
1: Capricorn, 88
